EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE:            

BARIUM COMPOUNDS:    SOLUBLE BARIUM SALTS, LIKE CHLORIDE AND SULFIDE,  

       ARE POISONOUS WHEN INGISTED. THE SALTS MENTIONED   

       ARE CAUSTIC TO SOME EXTENT.      

       INORGANIC FLOURIDES ARE HIGHLY IRRITANT AND   

       TOXIC. CHRONIC FLOURINE POISONING OCCURS AMONG      

       MINERS OF CRYOLITE, AND CAUSES SCLEROSIS OF 

       BONES, CALCIFICATION OF LIGAMENTS, MOTTLED TEETH,    

       OSTEOSCLEROSIS AND OSTEOMALACIA. INGESTION OF 

       LARGE QUANTITY WILL CAUSE NAUSEA, VOMITING,   

       DIARRHEA, ATTACK OF ASTHMA. PULMONERY FIBROSIS  

       IS NOTED. EFFECT ON ENZYME SYSTEM IS REPORTED.  

       IRRITATION TO EYES, SKIN, MUCUS MEMBRANE. 

       WEIGHTLOSS, ANEMIA, ANOREXIA, CACHECXIA, DENTAL  

ACUTE EFFECTS:     PROBLEMS ARE COMMON AFTER FLOURINE POISONING.
